LIVE WELL, BE WELL
Individualized care to support your body, your lifestyle, and your wellness goals.
Acupuncture uses an ancient systematic approach to healthcare that restores the body's natural balance and energy flow. Symptoms of fatigue, headaches, chronic pain, digestive issues, and irregular sleep patterns are all ways in which our bodies let us know we are out of balance. Acupuncture addresses the root cause of imbalance to support the body's natural tendency toward wellness.
In a similar way as blood flows through veins, the energy of the body flows through energy channels called meridians. Pain, disease, and illness are believed to occur when the meridians become blocked or out of balance. Acupuncture points lie on meridians and when stimulated promote the free flow of energy through the meridians and body. To stimulate these points, super thin, sterile needles are inserted superficially into the skin.
Acupuncture has been proven to positively promote health and well being by stimulating the nervous system, immune system, and other internal regulating systems of the body to release biochemicals in the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. The release of these biochemicals helps alleviate pain, improve blood flow, decrease inflammation, support the immune system, and rebalance the body's regulating systems.
Acupressure: Acupuncture points can also be stimulated without needles. This method is known as acupressure and uses a massage like technique of pressing on the points to stimulate the flow of energy. The addition of electricity to acupuncture needles provides for further stimulation of points. Electrical stimulation promotes healing and alleviate pain by enhancing blood circulation and decreasing inflammation.
Cupping is another ancient Chinese healing therapy in which glass or plastic cups are suctioned to the skin to promote the free flow of blood and energy throughout the meridians and body. Using fire to heat the cups or a hand held pump, suction is created and causes the skin and superficial muscle layer to gently rise into the cup. Once suctioned to the skin the cups can be left stationary or gently moved to produce a relieving and relaxing effect.
Essential oils: Essential oils are naturally extracted aromatic essences from plants and have been used for thousands of years in various cultures for medicinal and health purposes. With their detoxifying, antibacterial, antiviral, stimulating, and calming properties, essential oils provide natural, therapeutic support for a number of health concerns.
